2007 Napkin Exchange:

September, 2007 - Napkin Exchange Overview:

The SwFG Napkin Exchange was an experiment in color - we really tested whether all colors do or do not go toether!

Exchange rules recap:

-- 10/2 UKI cotton
-- Threading, tie-up, and treadling: weaver's choice
-- Size on loom: 20 in x 20 in (under tension and unhemmed)
-- Sample size: min. 3 in. x 3 in.

Colors:

We used 8 colors, listed below. Everyone picked a color randomly, so the combination was a complete surprise! Seven of the colors were to be used in the warp and 1 (weaver's choice) in the weft. Proportions of each color in the warp may vary, but at least 5% of each color had to be used.

Raisin, #143
Kelly green, #97
Dark gold, #111
Red hot, #132
Purple passion, #142
Tea, #76
Fuchsia, #3
Deep turquoise, #42

Exchange products:

-- 1 hemmed napkin and 1 sample per participant, plus 1 sample for our sample book, each with a draft showing threading and treadling.

-- Participants received one item for each item made, up to the maximum number produced by other participants. Participants who produced the most toward the exchange chose first from items available, those who have produced the next largest number choose next, and so on.
