The Mannings - Deflected Double Weave

The amazing Tom Knisely led us through an exploration of the deflected double weave structure. We each selected a general range of colors and fibers ahead of time. Tom and Sarah took those general suggestions and designed a range of different deflected double weave variations with which we experimented. Each participant wove samples enough for everyone, then got to work on a scarf to take home. To better understand the effect of finishing on the weave structure, we washed half of the samples, and left the other half unfinished. All participants went home with a beautiful woven garment, an invaluable notebook of finished and unfinished deflected double weave samples, and lots of great memories.
