About the Nine to Fibers Group:
The Nine to Fibers Group meets the second Wednesday of the month at Springwater Fiber Workshop. It is open to anyone who loves fiber. We are an easy-going group whose members crochet, bead, knit, spin, weave, dye, tat and/or felt. Our purpose is to expand our knowledge through a variety of programs and inspire each other through sharing.
Our members take turns, singly or in pairs, presenting a topic of their choice (and bringing snacks). These programs have included: making miniature books and sharing ideas about how to use them; an introduction to needle felting by making small felted pumpkins; beading; experience using wire for knitting, crocheting, etc; a presentation on damask fiber and how to weave it; learning about Fibonacci numbers and sharing ideas about how to use them in all of the fiber arts to enhance our product; a brainstorming session and sharing ideas about creativity and inspiration; “show and tell” of member’s personal heirlooms and collection of older fiber works.
That only covers a few of the programs we’ve enjoyed. This group only gets better and richer as the membership grows and expands in diversity. People from all fiber backgrounds are encouraged to participate, so this becomes a good place to get exposure to and learn about fiber arts that are new to you, and well as to give others a new perspective about something you know. POC is Mickey Stam.
